Green kiwifruit powder for bowel regularity

ACTAZIN® is a powder from green kiwifruit, exclusively harvested in New Zealand. Its benefits on bowel transit and digestive health have been demonstrated in 2 clinical studies. In vitro studies also support the prebiotic activity of this ingredient.

Preserving the unique composition of kiwifruit

The quality of ACTAZIN® begins with the choice of raw materials. The fruit is carefully selected from Zespri® approved New Zealand growers. Then, stripped of the skin and seeds, they are cold-pressed to a green powder.

The manufacturing process, which respects the quality of the fruit, preserves the composition of the kiwifruit in nutrients, vitamins and bioactive substances.

A synergy of action of ACTAZIN® compounds

Fibres represent 14-20% of the total composition of ACTAZIN® and have unique hydration and water retention properties, far superior to inulin or fructo-oligosaccharides, for example. These characteristics help to improve intestinal transit. ACTAZIN® fibres allow in particular:

  • a good swelling of the stools,
  • a change in the composition of the intestinal microbiota
  • a production of short-chain fatty acids which improve intestinal motility.

Green kiwifruit has the particularity of containing a high content of actinidin, a highly active proteolytic enzyme. In vitro studies have shown the role of this enzyme in the digestion of proteins at gastric and intestinal levels and in increasing gastric emptying speed.

ACTAZIN® also contains high levels of polyphenolic compounds. The scientific literature attributes anti-inflammatory properties to polyphenols that may play a role in intestinal dysmotility.

ACTAZIN® supported by science

Two randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies (28 and 128 subjects) showed an improvement in bowel function and quality of life.

An in vitro model showed the prebiotic and anti-pathogenic activity of ACTAZIN® on two strains of beneficial bacteria: Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli and on three strains of potentially pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enterica). Thus, ACTAZIN® promoted the growth of probiotic strains without increasing the growth of potentially pathogenic bacteria.
