SOLAGUM™ SJ 108
Thickener & emulsifying polymer for industrial applications
SOLAGUMTM SJ 108 is a polymer based on HSD (Hydro Swelling Droplets); it inverts and swells when added to water.
SOLAGUMTM SJ 108 acts as a thickener & emulsifier and is produced from water-soluble monomers polymerized in a continuous oil phase.
Characteristics
Main properties of SOLAGUMTM SJ 108 are:
- Ready to use polymer in fluid form
- Compatible at neutral and basic pH
- No heating neutralizing & maturing phases required
- Excellent emulsifier even with silicone oil
Solvent thickening
SOLAGUMTM SJ 108 can be used to develop anhydrous gels with oxygenated polar solvents: alcohols, esters, ethers, glycolether …
SOLAGUMTM SJ 108 is compatible with the following solvents: monoethylene glycol, monopropylene glycol, glycerol.
Compatibility
1-Compatibility with surfactants
SOLAGUMTM SJ 108 is compatible with non-ionic, anionic and amphoteric surfactants. It is not compatible with cationic surfactants.
2-Compatibility with electrolytes
Electrolytes decrease the thickening effect of SOLAGUMTM SJ 108. Therefore, they should be added at the end of the process to adjust viscosity as desired. To formulate gels with large quantities of electrolytes the concentration of SOLAGUMTM SJ 108 has to be increased. In order to overcome this limitation, SOLAGUMTM SJ 108 can be associated with other thickeners such as SOLAGUMTM AX, vinyl polymers...
