Committed to responsible innovation that cares for the environment and its stakeholders, Seppic acts for a sustainable supply of palm oil.
Palm oil’s fatty chains provide a wide variety of properties that are essential in manufacturing some of Seppic’s biosourced, performant and biodegradable ingredients, which makes this supply chain an important focus of Seppic’s CSR strategy.
By joining the collective initiative Action for Sustainable Derivatives (ASD) in 2019, in its first year of existence, Seppic has entered into a partnership that allows it to evaluate the performance of its main suppliers of palm derivatives and their action in favor of a more virtuous sector, thanks to the SPI (Sustainable Palm Index). In 2021, Seppic was rated 91/100 for its commitments, process & results in the transformation of the palm supply.
ASD is an organization of 23 members, mostly from the cosmetics industry, whose common objective is to accelerate the transformation of the palm supply. Thanks to this collective work, ASD now covers 10-20% of the palm kernel oil-based oleochemicals market and reached 86% transparency to mills for the annual purchase volumes of its 23 members.
Since 2010, Seppic has also been a member of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) whose objective is to transform the palm oil industry into a sustainable industry. In 2021, 98% of Seppic’s palm inputs were Mass Balance (RSPO) certified, and the objective is to reach 100% by 2025.
Jean-Baptiste Dellon, CEO of Seppic, states: "We are proud to be part of this collective adventure with ASD and to work to transform the palm supply chain with RSPO. These partnerships are perfectly in line with our policy of conscious innovation. The results of the work carried out over the past two years prove the strength of joint work, and encourage us to commit ourselves ever more to this process."
