Summarize your career in a few lines
During my studies, I did several professional internships: the first one, in Canada, where I worked as a freight agent for a forwarder and the second one, in Ireland, as a Sales Administration Assistant for 6 months for a company specialized in the sale of medical equipment. For the last 6 years, I have been working at Seppic as a Sales Manager (SM) where I have been able to manage different countries over the years. In 2020, I became the Sales Manager coordinator for the Beauty Care North America division.
Why did you want to do this job?
I have never really had a passion for a particular profession. I discovered the field of logistics and transport during my last year of undergraduate studies, and as for sales management, I discovered this profession following my various internships. What I like in this job is the fact that every day is different, the exchanges and the customer relationship that we have every day, and especially the diversity of the missions that this job can ask us.
What drives you in your daily life?
Professionally, I like the fact that I can help and advise our clients and my colleagues on a daily basis, even though I don't have a lot of experience yet. Sharing my knowledge and experiences with others is something I enjoy very much. I really enjoyed training the intern we had in our department last summer, for example.
Personally, I love to play sports, especially cycling, to travel, to discover new cultures and other ways of life.
What are you most proud of? What would you say is your greatest achievement?
Honestly, I don't think I have a particular accomplishment that makes me extremely proud but I do have a few accomplishments that I keep in mind. For example, my first trip outside of France was to live in Canada for 4 months. It was a project that I organized alone. I left with a lot of apprehension and in the end it was a very enriching experience culturally and humanly. More recently, during my last vacation, I went hiking for the first time alone and I got lost in the middle of nowhere but I held on and reached the goal I had set for myself.
What has been your biggest challenge in your professional life?
A big challenge I have had in my professional career is the transition to the position of Sales Manager Coordinator. Our department is divided into 4 divisions, and the coordinator is a relay between his division and the Sales manager. It was a new role for me; at the beginning, I questioned my capacities and legitimacy because I was required to carry the voice of my whole team. I worked on developing tools to help me in these new missions. I was able to take a training course to help me develop my skills in cross-functional management, and that helped me to take charge of this position.
How has Seppic accompanied you throughout your career?
I had and still have managers who have always pulled me up, helped me gain confidence, improve and develop my skills. They gave me the opportunity to evolve within Sales Management. I was able to participate in different projects. I was also able to do different trainings to develop my skills and to be able to better understand the missions entrusted to me.
If you had to give one piece of advice to a young woman starting out in her professional life, what would it be?
When you start your professional life, I think it is important to be patient with others, of course, but especially with yourself; to accept that you make mistakes and always know how to bounce back to learn from them and progress. Knowing how to take a step back even if we are pressured to act in order to analyze the situation and make the best decision.
