EU07651P Glycerin-Rich Non Sticky Gel-In-Oil Geltrap™ Emulsion
Innovative dosage form with several patient benefits
A gel-in-oil emulsion is an innovative dosage form with major advantages for new drug development and lifecycle management: strong solvent stabilization, major texture improvement and additional patient benefits (moisturizing, emollient, …).
With Gel-in-oil Geltrap™ dosage form
Stabilization of more than 40% of Glycerin
Through the combination of inverse emulsion polymer SEPINEO™ P 600 and polymeric emulsifier SIMALINE L80, a Gel-in-oil dosage form is majorly composed of an hydrophilic internal phase (> 80%) which can contain high amounts of polar solvents including glycerin, PEG 400, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, propylene glycol, …
Major texture improvement
A Gel-in-oil dosage form drastically improves the touch of formulations, even with a high concentration of solvents inside.
- “Fresh & cushion” effect
- Non-greasy, non-sticky
“Active” dosage form
A Gel-in oil emulsion comes with patient benefits specific to this dosage form:
- Moisturizing: a Gel-in-oil emulsion with only 20% glycerin shows significantly higher moisturizing results than a typical emulsion with 40% glycerin.
- Emollient: a Gel-in-oil emulsion with only 10% oil content shows the same non-drying properties as a W/O or O/W emulsion with 20% of oil content.
- Water-resistance properties: prevent the early wash-of of the formula from the mucosa (for vaginal and/or rectal applications) or from the skin in tropical climates, to ensure a good retention time and good efficacy.
