Low-viscosity methylcellulose for film-coating of granules
METOLOSE® SM-4 is a low-viscosity methylcellulose specially designed for film-coating of granules and pellets in fluidised bed.
The METOLOSE® range from SHIN ETSU is compliant with Ph.Eur, JP and USP.
In fluidised bed systems, the film-coating of granules and pellets in aqueous medium can be complicated by adhesion phenomena.
METOLOSE® SM-4 is only slightly adhesive and can be used to obtain a fine, consistent film-coating of granules and pellets using fluidised air bed systems without agglomeration due a reduced adhesiveness.
At a spray rate of 80 g/min, fewer than 5% of 1 mm granules are agglomerated while with hypromellose, this rate is almost 50% for the same spraying speed.
