Our natural 2-in-1 polymer: a smart combination of Xanthan Gum and Acacia senegal Gum.
Acacia Gum is an everyday multifunctional ingredient that is widely used for human consumption. Acacia is recommended for high cholesterol, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome and obesity, or as a prebiotic to promote "good" bacteria in the gut. Acacia Gum is also used as a pharmaceutical ingredient in medicines for throat and stomach infections. In cosmetics, Acacia is used as a film former; applied to the skin, Acacia Gum has the property of reducing inflammatory reactions (such as redness). When applied topically, this raw material is also used to reduce plaque and prevent gingivitis. It is thus a safe natural polymer which, like Xanthan Gum, is used in the food sector.
In our 2-in-1 polymer, the Xanthan Gum is coated with acacia gum during the manufacturing process through an innovative co-method using spray drying. This coating of Acacia Gum enhances the power and performance of the polymer: the ratio of Acacia Senegal Gum and Xanthan Gum in SOLAGUM™ AX has been optimised to provide an excellent balance between performance and sensory properties, enabling the formulation of all types of cosmetic galenics.
The natural 2-in-1 polymer: SOLAGUM™ AX
SOLAGUM™ AX offers better stabilisation than Xanthan Gum and can emulsify up to 15% oil phase, for example. It is also electrolyte resistant and offers excellent compatibility with cosmetic ingredients such as solvents, pigments (make-up applications) or organic and mineral filters (sunscreen formulations). It can be used over a wide pH range (3-12) and disperses much faster in water than Xanthan Gum, allowing for sustainable low temperature processes.
When it comes to sensory properties, SOLAGUM™ AX offers a better sensory profile than Xanthan Gum as it allows for non-sticky & non-threading textures with a freshness effect. Thanks to the presence of Acacia Gum, a natural film-forming agent, SOLAGUM™ AX is easy to apply and forms a soft, honeycomb film for a noticeable film-forming effect that can also increase the water resistance of the formulation. In doing so, SOLAGUM™ AX shows moisturising properties of up to 24% after a single application and over a period of up to 8 hours.
SOLAGUM™ AX is a safe and skin-friendly polymer that can also be used for intimate or oral care. It is readily biodegradable and Cosmos, Natrue and Halal certified as well as vegan-suitable and China listed.
