SEPPIC launches “SEPICOAT”: The new generation of immediate release coating agents

On the occasion of the CPhI 2011 exhibition, SEPPIC launched SEPICOAT, a new generation of immediate release coating agents for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications. This new coating agent is obtained from a polymer that is of natural origin and ready to use.

A strong creator of added value, it distinguishes itself by virtue of both its innovative properties and its industrial process.

SEPICOAT is a patented, innovative coating solution in which all constituents are of natural origin.

SEPICOAT is a powder-based, ready-to-use solution, that can reduce the coating time by 25% at the production stage (as well as 50% at the laboratory stage) because of the high concentration of dry material, which can be as much as 25% in dispersion (against 15 to 20 % conventionally).

SEPICOAT does not involve any change in the manufacturer practices and process involves but can increase productivity and reduce energy consumption.

In contrast to the conventionally used coating solutions, SEPICOAT has a neutral taste.

SEPICOAT enables an extremely glossy and pleasant appearance to be achieved on the coated pill or tablet, without the introduction of an additive. Moreover, this property facilitates blister packaging and the taking of the pill, and food supplements in particular.

SEPICOAT comes in a range of 17 colours chosen to favour pigments of natural origin. Because of its colouring know-how, SEPPIC is able to develop other colours on request.

SEPICOAT is aimed at the pharmaceutical market, at both branded and generic segments, and also at the food supplements market. This new innovative solution thus extends the SEPPIC SEPIFILM and SEPISPERSE coating ranges.
